Stand up and wave your arms in the air when you hear hate and racism at church.
Stand up and walk out when you hear lies at political town hall meetings.
Attend opposition meetings and show your disgust by waving your arms in the air and walking out.
Attend gun rallies and walk out.
Make sure you wave your arms so people do not think you are just going to the rest room.
Giving the finger is also an option.
We need a new type of movement in this country, a sort of code pink for all of us.
Sitting and listening to hate and lies gives the impression of approval.
Don't you wish people would raised their hand to ask a question at church or in the middle of some political rant?. Like hey wait a minute there.
Just a thought.
Peace.

(17,087 posts)Not much point to ceding the ground to the opposition. But I like the other examples you give.

(11,292 posts)It definitely would not work at a national convention, unless it was done in mass.

(8,291 posts)I was at my niece's wedding a couple of years ago and the Priest said "those who are on good standing with the church may proceed to communion". I just sighed and shook my head and I had to bite my tongue because I wanted to ask him how he could judge people that way. I was in the second row and a family member and couldn't believe the priest said something so hypocritical to the people attending this wedding mass.
I was ready to walk out but I didn't want to make a scene at her wedding.

Some years ago I walked out of church when the priest said there is nothing we can do to stop the war. It felt good and I now go to church rarely.

(4,003 posts)There was a sermon about immoral and depraved alcoholics.
My wonderful GFather was an alcoholic. He couldn't go near any alcohol and usually he went for years without slipping. Every so often he would have one drink and before I knew it, he was seriously ill spitting blood. His illness would scare the hell out of me as I loved him so much.
Everyone who knew him thought highly of him. Very few outside of family and his immediate circle of friends knew of his problem. No one would ever think of describing him as immoral or depraved.
Anyway, as I was exiting the Church, the ushers asked why I was leaving. I told them that I needed a drink. The sermon had awakened a strong need for the "spirits".
I never went back to that Church.

The angriest I ever saw my mother was when a stuffed shirt of a priest gave a sermon about how the only place for women in the church was cleaning it.
The most disappointed I ever was in her was that she didn't stand up and walk out.
I'd ditched church so I missed the whole spiel and yes, I would have walked out. I didn't believe a word of it anyway.

(39,215 posts)wanted to walk out but she did not say anything to me until we were walking out of the church. She did refuse to shake the pastors hand. I will have to tell her about this idea.

(39,343 posts)I avoid churches all together. The "love thy neighbor" group has turned into the "curse thy neighbor" group. I avoid negativity.
