please, enlighten narrow-minded thinkers that allah is simply the word God in the Aramaic dialect.

As you know may know my wife is a Home Health Aide. She is also extremely liberal when it comes to her views BUT she tries her best not to let her liberal political side interfere with her job. She has learned to hold her tongue in the homes of those she is caring for because her job requires a great deal of "Trust" and "gentleness" and most people who need her do not need there health effected by negativity. So if her client is a narrow-minded person who believes all middle easterners are evil she just puts on a smile and nods that she is listening to the client and changes the subject when possible.

The problem came about however when she was at a client's house and cornered by a conservative friend of the client. She hesitated in answering a question while she search for a way to answer it "diplomatically".

The guy starts ranting about Obama being a secret muslim and all that crap. But he said something really upsetting to my wife. All those who pray to allah a evil. My wife was raised maronite.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maronite

Her maternal grandmother was Lebanese and it was the culture she was brought up in with heavy Italian influences from her Maternal grandfather.

Actors like Danny and Marlo Thomas as well as Jamie Farah are Lebanese maronite decent. It is a form a Catholicism. HOWEVER the mass in large part is said in Aramaic language and guess what the term allah is used.

It took everything in her not to go off on the client's friend but that was deeply upsetting to her and had she not been at work she would have blown the man's mind with that truth.

Hebrew - Elohim
Arabic - Allah
Ancient Arabic - al-Ilah
Aramaic - Elah
Maltese - Alla
Amharic - Amlak
Akkadian - Ilu
Phoenician - El or 'l

Other branches of the Afroasiatic language tree have similar words... For instance the Egyptian all-god Re, or Ra, follows the same structure.

I'm sure you of course know this stuff I personally find language to be utterly fascinating.

Sorry that your wife had to put up with that garbage, but as a former employee of the adult care world... well, it's the sort of thing you learn to just let bump you without jostling, I guess.
