Though I left Catholicism decades ago ... i will admit that the focus on poverty is what the church of my youth focused on.

Oh, wealthy suburban parishes might use it to up donations to send to organizations trying to get Catholic dogma inserted into civil law, but that will be the extent of it.

Yes, I have an extremely unsympathetic view of organized religion.

As many problems as we all have with the RCC, Social Justice has always been a mainstay there.

Pope Francis is reminding us all.

but I bet he tacks to the right...remember what happened to the last Pope who talked about shake ups? John Paul I was killed by the Curia after 33 days in office in September of 1978

After two days of destroying property, the City of Fresno completely dismantled and removed the homeless from several of the largest encampments in downtown Fresno on August 27. Much of the homeless people’s property was put in roll off dumpsters by city workers where they say it can be "reclaimed." All of the Golden State off ramp encampment, Santa Clara street, F street, and G street south of the Rescue Mission are now gone. Nearly two hundred people have moved to other encampments or they are planning on returning once the dust settles.
