A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

I'd estimate we are now around number seven.

and have managed to come out of it without repeating the earliest steps. We've come out of it with the same form of government that led into it. I see those steps applying to Congress rather than to the general public, in any case.

Congress is now wholly dependent upon and into bondage under their corporate bankrollers. It will take awakening and courage to break free, but they've done it before.

I refuse to believe they will never be able to do it again.

And if you think we are #7, "from apathy to dependence" are you in fact declaring that you believe we have become a welfare state? And bemoaning same?
