Lindsey Graham and "Allahu Akbar"

Lindseed has labeled 'Allahu Akbar' as a terrorist phrase. It means God Is Great which is somehow a bad phrase in his twee little mind.

Lindseed had better worry about the phrase 'He's going down' which is uttered many times daily by the RW nutjobs. They are determined to take him down. The only reason he is still in office is his election cycle. He was elected in 2008 which was right at the beginning of the Tea Party. He has avoided their full wrath in an election until now.

Lindseed has a lot of money. However, what he doesn't have is a passionate base who would walk over hot coals to elect him. The Tea Party and other Republicans are passionate and they will GOTV against Graham. He has never been a real favorite around the state.

Lindseed knows he is in a fight. The dirty tricks on all sides are being plotted as we post. Mud may have to be imported to keep up the supply for throwing.

The little peeps will hunker down and watch a real reality show.

Or, more informally, "Holy Jesus!"

It's a religious expression, used in worship for Muslims. It's the opening of the call to prayer that comes from the mosque five times a day, too.

Graham is a moron. But we already knew that.

Can you explain? It sounds kind of homophobic to me. That's not appropriate on GD, or anywhere else.

I just take it as one of many things she often says, myself, none of which have sexual or racial overtones that I ever see.Like what's good for the goose.A bird in hand.Casting stones at glass houses.Rub some dirt on it. Lots of things. This particular thing,I've heard her say numerous times over the years about men or women who seem extra fussy and are always unhappy about something. She's said it about me and my brothers.A variation of saying someones got their panties in a wad,is how I take it.But I'll ask her.

Because I told you I'd ask her and because you asked for an explanation,I'll assume your interest in what she had to say.I think I had my butt chewed by the way.So thanks for that.
After explaining to her about my being at a political message board,my reply paraphrasing what she's said about Graham and countless others, including myself, and that someone thought the wording or sentiment might be homophobic, she laughed loudly for what felt like a full minute.
She lit into me because I "know damn well" that when 3 of my cousins came out some 20 years ago that SHE was the ONLY aunt or uncle,of a family of 8 kids, who didn't disown them outright or throw some sort of hissy fit. That while her brother-dad of one cousin and a sister mom of TWO made things miserable for them,SHE accepted them and even invited the one to come live with us and finish school in our town.(I remember that but either didn't know why or had forgotten, but she didn't come. She stayed where she was and went on to be a County Deputy Sheriff, but that's another story.)That because of my Mom her brother and sisters eventually came around. She reminded me that I have never in my life heard her say a bad word about someone that is different for BEING different. She's right. That's true. She said these things, and more, to me,as if I were the one questioning her meaning.
Now she wants me to ask you if she'd said Lindsay Graham "had a bee in his bonnet" if that's anti-gay?And to tell you it means the same thing.
Then she went on to tell me I need to stay off that"damn internet chat room and quit talking to jackasses".How people" take offense at nothing to where you just can't open your mouth anymore"."The whole worlds gone to hell in a hand basket."And more.Lots more.
My ears are still ringing.Made my day. Thanks again.

Your mom calling me a "jackass" was real nice and homespun of her, and all.

But you see, lots of people have spread the rumor that Lindsay Graham is a closeted gay man. People who say that are implying that being gay is somehow a bad thing. So, you see, when someone says that "his panties are too tight," it's just natural to think that they're referring to those rumors that he is gay as a way of insulting him. Most men don't wear "panties" so it is sort of saying that Lindsay Graham is effeminate by implying that he wears panties in the first place. So, folks who say his "panties are too tight," are kind of doing a double insult, and that insult includes questioning his gender that way.

So, you're welcome to tell your mom what I said, just like you told me what she said. She may think I'm a jackass, and that's certainly her privilege, but I'm not too convinced of her other statement.

But it was a nice story you told, and I'll accept that it is what she said to you. I don't much like her insult toward me, of course, but I don't know your mom, so I'm not just exactly sure how I should take her insult.

Anyhow, what I said still applies. Implying that Lindsay Graham is a gay man in any way is a homophobic sort of thing to do, since it implies that being gay is a bad thing. You tell your mom that, won't you. Maybe she'll understand.

Benghazi dust up.The actual comment was that Issa,McCain and Graham all had their panties on too tight, while discussing the absurdity of the matter.I'm aware of the rumors regarding Graham. Not sure Mom is.Never heard her comment one way or the other on the subject.
I can understand how someone who doesn't know her could easily make the association you do.I think in similar circumstances, from your perspective,I might do the same thing. But you're wrong. You'd have to think she made the same implications on Issas and McCains lifestyles, even though those type of rumors have never surrounded them, that I'm aware of and despite my belief and assurance to you that she's probably not aware of the graham rumors.Plus,I know that she thinks concern and outrage over who might kiss who is the very height of ridiculous and sanctimonious posturing and that she is incapable of considering that one of any persuasion is any better,or worse than any other. But you can't know that. And when I consider all the hateful, hurtful, inflammatory, even racist words and names that are hurled to denigrate and demean others who are different in any way and that I've never heard her use those words,I know that isn't in her nature to be as you suspected. She once washed my mouth out with soap for calling the kid next door an indian giver when he reneged on a toy trade. You're wrong.I can't blame you but you're wrong.

The jackass thing.I would imagine in your early family life you were called some variation of screwball, knucklehead, goofball,by an uncle, often accompanied by a noogie or a tickling. Maybe your Mom or Dad.Probably many times.Everyone I grew up around was. Some worse. I'll further guess you weren't scarred for life by it and maybe even laughed in an aw shucks kind of way. With my Mom screwball, knucklehead, goofball are all interchangeable and as with jackass are sprinkled liberally in her remarks.I've been all those things and more, for 40+ years, and like my brothers, have never felt that those words were meant in a mean spirited way.
She's in her 70s now.I'm not even going to try to explain to her, that words and terms she and everyone else in her universe have used for nearly a century with no harm and no ill intent and that have been fine and acceptable til recent times, are now not to be uttered.I mean really. She's never said any 'f-words','n-words' or curse words, other than hell or damn, and those are rare. She votes democrat and because of the way she raised me,so do I.

That someone would be insulted.Offended by being called jackass, meant to chide me for wasting time on the terrible internet contraption,by some anonymous someones Mom,on the internet in an offhanded second handed manner and that I've wasted much of a day off debating that sad fact, has me wondering if my own panties aren't too tight right now.
