Police: Woman lied about attempted carjacking

UPDATED 1:14 PM EDT Sep 25, 2013

GREENVILLE, S.C. —A woman who reported an attempted carjacking is now facing charges herself, according to Greenville police.
Tuesday evening, officers responded to a report of a carjacking attempt on Wade Hampton Boulevard.

Officers said Angela McLeskey, 47, told them that she was sitting at a stop sign when two people came up to her vehicle and demanded that she get out. She told the officers she put the car in reverse and hit some trees.

The officers set up a perimeter to search for the carjackers. After further investigation, the officers said they determined the attempted carjacking did not take place.

Then they claim that a pedal got stuck or didn't work. Unfortunately most times it's an older driver and investigations show that there was nothing wrong with the car.

A lot of people go to great lengths to avoid admitting that there was a mistake on their end.

probably to try to get out of being responsible for ramming her car into the trees. She's afraid her insurance will go up so the scary intruder made me do it sounds a lot better. At least for a little while.

Typically in these kinds of stories, the imaginary assailants are Imaginary Black.

tried to figure out a way to get insurance money to pay it off rather than have the car repossessed and have that on her credit. She should have parked the car in a bad part of town and left the keys in it.
