Goebbels & Riefenstahl were pikers next to LIMBOsevic. He's telling his herd the "real" reason NIXON

Last edited Thu Sep 26, 2013, 03:04 PM - Edit history (1)

was hated: Alger HISS. JUST Alger Hiss, nothing else. There have long been scattered observations about his propaganda techniques but nothing in-depth and systematic: How he uses doublespeak and opposites-speak, how he takes Liberal positives (accolades for FDR, for example) and upends them and turns them inside out and applies them to his wingnut hero/RAYGUN (they've got NOBODY else but RAYGUN). During Campaign '12, the phrase "low information voter" came into play and was originally describing the Faux Propaganda Network audience, but LIMBOsevic now uses it constantly to apply to Libs/Dems/supposed"KoolAiders".

So I was in the car for two minutes, and there he was with his "history." He said that many in his audience weren't born or were too young when NIXON was around and that therefore they don't know, can't possibly grasp, how HATED NIXON was by Lefties, that the hatred they thought they saw us have for Shrub was NOTHING compared to the absolute, dripping contempt and hatred we had for NIXON. He didn't mention RAYGUN at all, and I will be the first to subscribe that my detestation of RAYGUN was pretty much up there. And I grant that detestation of Shrub was secondary to that of NIXON.

Fine. But then he said he was explaining the REASON that NIXON was so hated, and he said it came down to ONE thing, and ONE thing only: that the Left loved Alger HISS and that NIXON had exposed him as a Communist. That is all.

The consolation I take is that in all these years of hearing how wingnuts have attempted to deify RAYGUN, I do not see that it has taken root in the rest, the majority of the country. So propaganda fails.

I disagree. Riefenstahl was a far more effective propagandist cali Sep 2013 #1

and Goebbels effected far more atrocities.

It's not a very good comparison and it detracts from your op.

not in terms of personal genocide. I suppose that if I had used Father COUGHLIN as a mark, there wouldn't have been an objection.

I'm considering locking my thread and re-posting it without the off topic post #1.

a propagandist. I highly recommend the documentary, "The Wonderful, Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl". Fascinating movie. One thing she is certainly guilty of: in the movie she claims she was never interested in politics, only film making. I tend to believe her.

and there was no threat of impeachment without Republicans on board.

I never "hated" Nixon. I thought of him more as a tragic character who managed to do more positive things than all the Republicans since Teddy Roosevelt put together, but still managed to fuck it all up.

And Alger Hiss had nothing to do with it.

Who told the Limbocile about Hiss anyway?

He is the root of all evil in modern day America.

He was the first to take over pot from peacenik hippies and turn it over to black ops mercs to set up the guns for drugs trade... thereby creating an unlimited, zero-oversight self-funding mechanism for more black ops "off budget". After being elected on the promise of ending the Viet Nam war immediately, he instead kept it going for years intentionally. Then there was that little Cambodia genocide enabling problem. He began the era of politics-by-corruption and disinformation and rights-trampling which continues today. Of course that's only a few quick points, nowhere close to all of the reasons why millions of Americans justifiably hated him so much.

Raygun was his minion in California as its governor (I lived there at the time); he scored brownie points with Nixon by rolling out the state level no-knock law ahead of its federal counterpart by Nixon... the law that allowed cops to just kick in anyone's door without a warrant. That was fun while it lasted. (And now it's back again -- but less openly this time.) Of course Reagan was already liked by Nixon, as the snitch who kept Joe McCarthy supplied with names of Hollywood victims while at the same time serving as the head of its major union. Those are perfect qualifications for President by Nixon's standards.

Yeah, Nixon was a great misunderstood guy, alright. (And his VP Agnew was a prize too, but that's another story.) He was the first big fish who should've done time, but instead was pardoned by Ford. And what have we seen since he skated scott free... a hell of a lot more of the same. Gee, who could've seen that coming?

Nobody gave a damn about Hiss, most boomers didn't even know who he was. I'm 200% sure that would include Limbaugh at the time too. He doesn't strike me as the well-read type, especially then I'll bet.
