Wingnut on with Wolf Blitzer tonight says that healthy people, people

who take good care of their health, will be paying for those that don't under Obamacare. Ding, ding, ding we have the latest GOP meme. It was Congressman John Flemming (R) of Louisianna.

One thing about republicans is they don't give a fuck about pain and suffering. If I'm healthy I simply count my blessings. When I see people bleeding in the clinic waiting room I don't think of them as scammers gaming the system.

Cancer, MS, etc can happen to anyone - even the healthiest folks

The majority of women at one time or other (or multiple times) will deliver a baby in a HOSPITAL

Folks fall down and break a legs/arms/hips/etc

Folks have accidents while skiing, or participating in other sport activities, etc.

Folks get hit by cars, buses, etc - or are they themselves drive a car and have an accident

And a million of other ways to end up at the hospital...

It is very very rare that a person does not see a doctor or does not go the hospital during their whole lifetime.

Besides, who's paying for those patients who go to the emergency room, but do not have insurance?

The only slight quibble I'd have is his implication that the correlation between behaviour and health is strong, rather than very weak.

But, basically, yes, the whole point of a healthcare system is that the hale share in the cost.
