You can always count on the GOP to show their ugly side
The GOP is currently threatening to shut down the federal government - in order to DENY health care to all Americans
They howl and scream at the thought of guaranteeing everyone affordable health care. Remember, this is the party of the "LET THEM DIE" town hall meetings.
The writhe and moan at the thought of even minor increases in the federal minimum wage. They argue that businesses should be left to pay whatever they want.
They get absolutely livid at the thought of immigration reform. In their fantasy world, we would be loading non-white immigrants (including their children, regardless of American citizenship) onto railroad cars and sending them south of the border as fast as the choo-choo train can go. This would be the one time that rethugs would actually wish they had approved high-speed rail.
Civil rights legislation? Don't need it anymore. Hate crime legislation? Nope, don't need those any more either.
Gay rights? We don't need any laws to protect the GLBT community! We should be free to discriminate against them all we want! If we really had our way, we'd institute the death penalty for homosexuality, but for now we'll just settle for making them second class citizens.
Basically, you can count on the GOP to be on the wrong side of just about EVERYTHING. Don't be fooled by these so-called "moderates" - their only goal is to win election. If that means appearing as a moderate, then so be it. But rest assured if there were ever a veto-proof GOP congress, they would show their true colors in a heartbeat.
