Man Dies After Setting Fire to Ex-Fiancée's Psychic Business in West Park: BSO
A man who set fire to his ex-fiancée's West Park psychic business died after sustaining severe burns in the blaze, police said.
Luis Evans, 19, died Monday at Jackson Memorial Hospital after setting fire to the business at 5716 W. Hallandale Beach Boulevard Sunday night, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
The BSO said a motorist spotted the fire at the business around 7 p.m. and saw a black Pontiac leaving the scene. Firefighters arrived and encountered heavy smoke and flames, but were able to put out the two-alarm fire.
Investigators discovered evidence that someone was burned at the scene, and an arson detection dog found the presence of accelerants, the BSO said.
Authorities later discovered that the business owner, 26-year-old Jennifer Tanner, had received a call that Evans showed up at a friend's house in Miami with severe burns, the BSO said.
Evans was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital by Miami Fire Rescue where he later died of his injuries.
and state Fire Marshal's investigators are obtaining a search warrant to look for more evidence inside.
The fire is still being investigated.
