I Understand Why Certain Things Would Be Exempted From A Government Shutdown... However...

there is an argument to be made... that this should not be true...

Think of it as a general strike.

No airline flights... no MIC funding... all private contracts halted... no pay for congress and staff...

EVERYTHING... would be shutdown...

And let's see how THAT plays with the American Public.

Ya think that might get their attention?

I think it just might.

We need to let them know just how serious we are......NO negotiating with terrorists. None.

so I can make up the difference at the checkout over the next few days and hope it doesn't stretch to weeks.

I live near an airbase. Families will be badly hurt if the military doesn't get paid.

are why some think government does not do anything. Land the planes in the air and shut down the airports. No screeners, no towers. Shut down the borders. no ICE/CBP. Make it hurt and it will be fixed real quick.

There is a concept in the Fed of essential position, those people keep working. It is not near enough people to keep the government going long term. Maybe enough for a couple of snow days, but after a week there will be some serious consequences. Unfortunately, the teabaggers doing this won't feel them.
