GOP Boozing It Up on House Floor While Voting for Shutdown

Maybe it was the alcohol, or the late hour, or maybe the House Republicans have just completely lost their minds. On Saturday night, while they were trying to come up with some kind of magic bullet to kill Obamacare, they decided that not only were they going to shut down the government, but now they have added a “conscience clause” to the spending bill which takes away preventative care from women, which includes birth control.

And before you go thinking that this attack on women was the only outrageous thing they did Saturday night, hold on, I’m afraid I have more to report. Friday afternoon, Republican John Culberson from TX got huge applause from his colleagues when he compared the GOP’s effort to destroy Obamacare to the heroes of 9/11. Culberson compared the House Repubs to the passengers on United Flight 93 who overtook the terrorists and got control of the plane on 9/11. Yes, Seriously.

Those assholes think this is some big drunken joke. They are less responsible than a college kids at a Frat house.

2. States' righters want federal failure, so another debilitating shutdown is a victory.

They are celebrating as if it was the surrender of Japan.

If you imagine yourself in a certain seat, looking down at the battle map as it seems to be drawn you can pretty much understand their thinking...if they shutdown Obamacare they win, if they shut down the Federal gov't they win.

The concentration of Koch money on radical state oriented politics really facilitated this. And the mission of destroying the federal government, and all those nasty profit robbing regulations the Koch's hate so much, was taken with them to DC after the 2010 elections

And they know their asses are pretty much covered due to gerrymandering. Id love to think these tantrum-throwers would be tossed in 2014. I have my doubts though. Like you said, they love the fact that theyve turned Congress into a joke.

be drunk and disorderly and hooting it up when they are voting on something as serious as what our country is facing is just plain sick. They should all be sent to an unihabited island in the middle of the Pacific so responsible people can govern.
