From what I've heard, the reception was mixed.
The person that took this photo accepted a sticker from his campaign people and then wadded it up in front of him.
My dad booed him loudly, eliciting an evil glare from his security detail, to which my dad responded, "Hey! It's my right!" A cousin of mine in attendance said he also gave him a piece of his mind. In at least two other incidents I heard about, he was confronted with people screaming things like "GET BACK TO WORK!"
Although anecdotal, there are many that don't appreciate Mitch in this dark red district and I'm glad that he didn't receive the 100% warm reception he thought he'd get.

I guess he's terrified of Alison Lundergran Grimes.

(10,893 posts)but man...McConnell has horrible color-coordination! Who told him that it was a good idea wearing red/pink pants with a blue button-up?I know he's got more than enough money to dress better than that.
Rebellious Republican
(5,029 posts)Note the white hat. However, red ball cap, white shirt and blue pants would have made more fashion sense. But what does this middle aged, white southern, F150 pick up driven, decorated, disabled Navy veteran, heterosexual male know about fashion?
I did notice

A Little Weird
(1,754 posts)That is the best thing I've read all day. If this was at the Apple Festival in Liberty, KY then that is a solid red area of the state. If his support there is waning then I have hope that we can look forward to welcoming Senator Grimes soon!

(6,679 posts)A group of Vietnam Vets were together not far from us and turned they backs on him as a group and Mitch obviously noticed. A lot of yells to go back to work and quite a lot of boos - In fact so many boos from way upstream we all stuck our necks around trying to see what was coming they were booing at.
No one hurled anything at him and quite frankly I'm surprised they didn't.
