No one is buying Limbaugh's insulting "apology"

Rush Limbaugh Apology Falling On Deaf Ears

Evan McMorris-Santoro

<...>

If Limbaugh thought his words would get his critics off his back, the early signs are he’s missed the mark.

Twitter blew up Saturday afternoon with comments on Rush’s statement, which Democrats seemed to view as disingenuous, insulting, or both.

“Amazing what losing advertisers can do for one’s conscience,” tweeted DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse.

Democrats pointed to the long center section of Limbaugh’s statement, where he doubled down on his criticism of new rules aimed at increasing insurance coverage for contraception, which Limbaugh has called forcing employers to pay to support an employee’s sexual habits.

<...>

“In ‘apology,’ Rush compares birth control & women’s health to govt buying sneakers for workouts. Insulting?” tweeted Paul Begala, an adviser to the super PAC supporting President Obama. “Read Rush’s full statement. You tell me if it is contrition or continued derision toward women,” he added.

If other tweets throughout the afternoon are any indication, the left is not about to let up on Limbaugh now that he’s issued his apology. Critics succeeded in getting several advertisers to drop their support for Limbaugh’s massively popular radio show. There were suggestions that Limbaugh had opened himself up to a libel suit. High profile Republicans distanced themselves from Limbaugh, and the words “this is a Don Imus moment” were heard often among left-leaning activists behind closed doors last week.

Thank you. They would probably want to ban my husband's vasectomy, under their "religious views" also.

Bain's ownership is likely the reason Romney refrained from condemning Limbaugh; well, that and the fact that Romney is an opportunistic coward who is walking on eggshells in order not to upset the right-wing beast.

9. There Should Be No Let Up On Rush For This Mealy Mouthed Apology.....

the bully is backed into a corner this time. The advertisers should not come back to him because of this so-called apology. The calls should continue to go to the advertisers telling them you won't support their products if they choose to accept Rush's apology and continue to advertise.

This is Rush's "Imus Moment", "Macaca Moment", "Weiner Moment" all rolled into one. He showed himself for who he really is and he's pissed off women and their significant others who won't stand for their lady to be called a slut or a prostitute.

This should finish Rush off for good this time. Call the advertisers. Call the FCC. Call your representatives in D.C. Get Rush kicked off of Armed Forces Radio. Get him kicked off of all radio.

To the Repugs he's the "head of their party" when it's convenient for them and at times like this they call Rush an "entertainer".

He's a racist, mysoginyst, bigot and bully and he needs to be dealt with once and for all. He needs to be kicked off the radio.

If he wants to be an entertainer - let him do stand up at a local comedy club in Palm Beach.

P.S. I just learned that Rush's so-called apology was just a written statement and not an on-air apology. So let me add "he's a coward" as well to my rant above.

12. My old teacher wouldn't have accepted this "apology"

Her rule was that the apology had to match the insult. If there was name-calling in class (e.g., "You're stupid&quot , the apology had to happen in front of the whole class as well. That vile human being's insults were carried nationwide on his radio program. His apology should be no less public and take up no less time. And then Ms. Fluke gets to say whether she accepts it or not, live on his show, without interruption.

But considering the standard level of cowardice that comes with being a bully, that vile human being will do no such thing.
