I am Not a Slut

Jessica Scott - my daughter's new hero

"I am a 35 year old married mother of 2, an Army officer who has deployed and I use birth control to be a good soldier and a responsible parent.

I use birth control to stop having my period so that I can go to the field and not worry about it.

I use birth control while deployed with my husband to keep from getting pregnant and getting sent home and letting down all the men AND women on my team.

I use birth control to keep from having more children than we can afford."

more at link. She's my hero, too

But how's about. I Am Not A Slut and You, Sir, are a Voyeur..

Maybe we should all send cheap plastic rain coats to Bain Capital for Rush's perversion...with 'For the Voyeur in the Media that a you Support'. In black indelible marker on the rain coats.... .

Don't want to cross any ethical lines in the phrases on the rain coats... Or maybe just send them to Bain Capital, without any phrases...a silent protest..so they can distribute them to the homeless for protection against bad weather...that's more positive...

Who cares if someone is a slut or not, that's a personal choice and not mine at all. This idea that if BC is for "legitimate" medical reasons then it should be allowed while if it's for having sex (ie a slut) then it isn't okay is just BULLSHIT!

How about this as well...

" I have been a slut, and I think everyone will agree that it's a good thing for me, and for the 250 men I bedded, and the children I didn't have in my teens or early twenties, and the tax payers that would've paid for their welfare that I was on birth control."

3. Additionally, to refer to a woman as a slut is a double standard.

Just the term places women on " less than equal status" for having sex in the same parameters men have sex ... the term slut is meant to shame women. So, what's next? A burka? Men are encouraged to have frequency sex ...Viagra speaks to that game...men are socially rewarded for such prowess.

4. Correct, and I'm glad you reminded everyone of that...It's a slur with no male corollary.

their judges and their seducers".

5. Exactly - and what ARE those standards, anyways? Nice clean objective ones?

I think what "slut" means to many guys is "she has sex with more than one guy who's better than me, so I can't even IMAGINE that I could own her."

In a different subculture, it means "she has sex for fun, not for money, and she's messing with our business."

In another subculture, it means "she admits to sexuality - ANY sexuality - without feeling shame."

Satan only knows what it means to those who just passionately hate women regardless, and there's far too many of them.

And in the midst of this kind of crazy it seems rather fey and futile to suggest that there might be a use for a word, preferably gender-neutral, to refer to someone with conspicuously less judgment in choosing sexual partners than they show in the rest of their life. About as useful as a lace doily.

7. So I suggest we all start called ourselves female studs instead of sluts then

You've totally hit the nail on the head. Men can have their Viagra so they can have slutty sex, but women are supposed to keep an aspirin between our knees? WTF.

Women are condemned for the sex, men are condemned for disloyalty.

10. But cheater isn't gender specific

Anybody who cheats is considered the villain. Slut is targeted at women who enjoy sex particularly if they enjoy sex with multiple partners. Although I can't figure out quite why that is supposed to be a bad thing. If you aren't enjoying it, you're doing it wrong. While I'm personally not a fan of having sex with lots of partners, I don't care if others do, preferably in a safe fashion.

Edited to fix an incorrect word choice from concerned to considered
