(129,127 posts)required him to make major concessions in his hawkishness - mainly because of the popularity of Kadima in opposition to the tyrannical policies in the Likud party, those policies being what Sharon objected to and part of why he created Kadima. With the subsequent illness of Sharon and lack of a credible replacement, along with the continued sentiment that moderation was still in order, some interesting changes have occurred that moved the political system closer to what the people wanted.
Thus I understand that Likud got some more moderate/liberal parties to join to form the current government but only due to all sorts of stipulations and strings attached. And it has been like night in day since the last time he was in office. It may not seem like it but he's definitely much less bombastic than he had been in the past. Maybe it's his age talking too...

I continue to back the Labour coalition - Tzipi Livini has done a good job making Israelis aware of issues.
