Can't believe I'm saying this: Limbaugh may be finished

After 20+ years of spewing his hatred and obvious "issues" throughout the nation, I think Limbaugh may finally be finished as the voice of the GOP.

I have a daughter who I love. I had a mother who was as strong a person as you have ever met. I had aunts and a grandmother who emigrated to the US in about 1910. I have an ex-wife and now a wonderful partner for the past 15 years, and women cousins, friends, coworkers throughout my life who have meant everything to me.

And even conservatives love the women in their lives. Limbaugh obviously does not, and I think he's a goner because of it. I can't believe I am finally saying this, after all the years of hate and venom he has gotten away with. But I think he's finally finished.

And it's not his hatred of liberals that has done him in - it's his hatred of women. He has Issues.

He'll apologize to placate everyone and move forward as fast as he can so he can put some distance. He wants it forgotten.

If this does get rid of him, I think it will take quite a while. It did for Glenn Beck.

Most of my acquaintances think he's a crank. However, about his racism and misogyny, my neighbor's ex-wife used to listen to him and agree with him all the time even when I pointed out his lies to her. The weird thing is that she was Hispanic (Puerto Rican) and of course a woman and she didn't get that his diatribes were against people like her.

He went on and on about this poor girl for several days. His apology should go on and on. He should explain that he has mommy issues or women issues and offer to seek treatment for his condition. His apology was completely inadequate. He's a disgusting bastard who should be fired. There is no place for hatemongers like Rush in our country.

He got away with Oxycontin addiction.

He got away with the Michael J. Fox thing.

Limbaugh channels some serious ugly from deep within the Republican limbic system. He'll get away with this. His base will treat him as a victim of liberal PC and establishment Republican conniving.

but it may be the end of the beginning.

And not just to Rush. I believe that the hate has been dialed up all over because certain elements of society are fighting a rear guard action against demographics.

They are losing, and it's making them frantic, hateful and dangerous.

But they are losing.

It may be, I would not bet money on it. But my guess, knowing all too well how this works, is that he will pour on crocodile tears and shoehorn himself into the victim role, while the EBUL LIBRUALS and EBUL LIBRUAL MEDIAS will be the ones who get hurt.

I think some people in this (and other) threads are overestimating the number of his dittoheads who are going to part company over this latest hateful incident. He will loose women I am sure, though not that segment of his female audience who were brought up to think they were "sluts" just for being born with a vagina and had that disgusting notion reinforced as an adult. He is not going to loose the misogynists in his audience, the ones who think women need to know/learn "their place," which is barefoot and pregnant, making sandwiches and turkey pot pies.

We're talking about a man I think of as the godfather of AM hate radio. It is hard to imagine that this most recent week-long hate fest of his is going to cost him, in the end, any more than any other of his vile hate fests.

If it does cost him his radio career, it will be fine with me. I may even do a little happy dance. Just trying to be realistic about it.

But it has generated good common energy and for progressives.

Let's make sure we weed out any that pretend to be progressives who could do damage in this direction -- e.g.
B Mahers.

Compare Stewart, Pryor, .... (respectful, funny), to Mahers (self-serving, not so funny).

Guys like Mahers, could quickly repel many from the free thinking side of the aisle.

Before, hate radio could spew and spew endlessly and be relatively unchallenged. But now social media has reached a critical mass and now people can fight back instantly and join with tens or hundreds of thousands of like-minded people relatively effortlessly (e.g. Komen blow-up).

after this year (it goes until 2016 I believe) and then he can become even wealthier on satellite radio like Stern. But even if that happened, at least that would free up 3 hours of the public's airwaves that have been polluted and poisoned by his toxic talk for almost 25 years.

He's no fool. I expect him to go quiet for a few weeks and slowly ramp up again. This election is money in his pocket. We need to KEEP him on the defensive until it's over and he is irrelevant to the GOP. I do think he's just narcissist enough to get reckless when backed into a corner and it's up to us to do that. His vitriol can't be acceptable.

I was born in the same year as that execrable pig. I share the same memories: The JFK assasination, the Beatles, John Glenn. And I can tell you this with certainty: Finally, the piece of shit has overreached. I first heard his garbage in the late '80s, and I have waited for this to happen ever since. I win, as a decent although not rich human being. He loses, as a rich but deeply troubled - well, not human.

I hate him with every fiber of my being, and as a peer, I am glad to see him finished.

HATERS GOTTA HATE... This guy is in for the long run, and 3 months down the line, he will still be sitting in that big chair with Clear Channel holding him up. They will lose advertising money, sure...but they will recover from this. Its what they live for...having that much power over the Republican party.

And yes...THEY SUCK!
