I say that to my daughter all the time. You are so lucky that your husband believes YOU have the same rights he does.

that limiting or ending civil rights for one group will likely end with their own civil rights being abolished.

They're the men who have found their way to DU.

Deadbeats wouldn't care if they got a woman pregnant, they'd hop on the next bus out of town to skip the child support payments and not care. But responsible men think of the ramifications of what they do, think about responsible family planning - not becoming a dad until they are ready to provide for the family.

It's a family tradition now. Back in the 20s and 30s, Doctors would sometimes ask women who had several children if they had wanted to have all those children. The answer was often "Good heavens no". The doctor would let them know that someone would stop by in a few days. This is where my great grandmother and grandmother stepped in. They would smuggle contraceptives (often against the law) into the home posing as an "Avon lady" or similar door to door saleswoman and teach the mother how to avoid another pregnancy.

This is my families proud history of resistance to the right and their misogyny. So while I'm a guy, I proudly stand beside women in their fight for proper healthcare.

I recently wrote this essay in response to Governor McDonnell's interview with the National Review. In short, his uninformed perspective on the recent women's health legislation is truly what the "kerfuffle" is all about.
