(8,377 posts)I don't think this is a time to gloat. It ain't over until it is over. Moreover, all we achieved was to survive a hostage crisis, and for all we know, the terrorists are still on the loose, ready to strike again in a few weeks.
But this was a stand Obama and the Dems had to take. I'm proud to be on their side today. Now there is at least some hope that we can move away from kamikaze tactics and do some governing that will actually help Americans, and help America be a better nation in the 21st Century.

(8,377 posts)I think the most charitable thing to say is that after 5 years of getting his ass kicked by a bunch of intransigent morons, he finally learned his lesson. I am glad for that, but can only wax poetic about how we would be better off it he had more of a quick learner.
Now the challenge is to make sure he doesn't revert to his old ways during the next 3 years.

(37,428 posts)While I'd like to believe in total GOP capitulation, or that the position they've staked out polls too crappily to be tenable, history teaches us that terrible concessions must always be made to them.
Some face-saving token wouldn't upset me, and if a clean deal is forthcoming I hope to be among the first to applaud the first time the president didn't have to cave.
If Cruz can be muzzled for a day or two, we might just come out of this with an economy.
