Where?!1 Why, Texas, of course: Where both Kinky FRIEDMAN *and* George PEE Shrub can be candidates!1

Unfortunately, not against each other. George Pee is running for Land Commissioner. And this time FRIEDMAN is running as a Dem (again), after having tried all the labels at least once. After he was a spoiler allowing Goodhair to win with 39%, he said Goodhair is a "good kind hearted man" and supported him in the Rethug primaries. He's a pal of Don sLimus, of the "I've got a chip on my shoulder because you Elites think I'm a hick but am really poking you in the eye to show how creative and intelligent I am" school. Yeah, those pastel campaign posters (he's an ARTIST, too!1 Besides novelist. Poet. Musician.) really won over the young Libs in Austin who are always SO constructive in their choices of being up to date with the next new thing.

Kinky Friedman running for agriculture commissioner

Associated Press | October 15, 2013

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Humorist and erstwhile politician Kinky Friedman says he's going to run for Texas agriculture commissioner as a Democrat.

In a statement released Tuesday, Friedman said legalizing marijuana and revitalizing the hemp industry would be his top priorities if elected.

Friedman last ran for agriculture commissioner in 2010, but lost the Democratic primary. He ran for governor as an independent in 2006 and came in third with 12 percent of the vote.

So far only three Democrats have announced their candidacy for statewide office, including Fort Worth Sen. Wendy Davis for governor and Mike Collier for state comptroller.

Four Republicans are vying for that party's nomination for agriculture commissioner, including J Allen Carnes, Brandon Creighton and Eric Opiela.

The agriculture commissioner markets Texas farm and ranch products and regulates the industry.

The news that Kinky Friedman is considering another run for statewide office is not really news. It is just sick comedy. As Harvey Kronberg put it, "A comedian needs an audience."

When Friedman ran for governor in 2006, he helped make it impossible for Rick Perry to lose in a four-way race. By helping to divide the vote among four candidates, he enabled Perry to win with a pitiful plurality of 39% . I have no doubt that Friedman's intention was to help Perry. When he ran for agriculture commissioner as a Democrat in 2010, he lost handily in the primary to Hank Gilbert. That is all I am going to say about Friedman's political plans. He has a right to pay his filing fee and run for office, just like anybody else.
