Because they ARE going to do this again in less than three months, and when they do every independent ordinary-type American's immediate reaction needs to be pitchfork-grabbing shock and horror and sputtering anger. "Are you fucking kidding me???"

And if that reaction is baked into the electorate then the Republicans have nothing.

2. Yes they are. This is certainly not over.

They'll huddle in their private meetings to conjure up their next move. The only thing they failed at was complete destruction of the federal government. They'll keep trying.
