Senate Deal Includes Back Pay For Furloughed Workers
TPM

The latest Senate deal to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling includes back pay for furloughed federal workers.

Multiple congressional aides told the Washington Post that back pay would be part of the deal, and a Senate source the report to TPM.

I'm pretty sure I read something about it. Was that something that started to happen but didn't or is this just reinforcing that earlier resolution?

if not but for the shutdown the dedicated men and women of the federal workforce would not have been furloughed, themselves and their families affected, the closure of HeadStart programs, denial of new entrants into pediatric cancer trials or, for me, issuance of a tax id number for my father's estate so i can close this down.

I feel for the federal workers but what about all the civilian workers that were furloughed or simply let go? What about the impact to food and drug safety, etc.?

I don't feel we should single out federal workers for a full restoration. We should compensate parents who had to find and pay private daycare providers for their children, etc. if we are to compensate federal workers.

Further, why should we pay them for having done nothing? I realize that is a bit cynical but the reality is they were at home watching tv, etc. So, because of the asshats in Washington we are paying all federal workers for two weeks of additional paid leave? Where do I sign up?

This should so incense federal workers that they will NEVER EVER vote for anyone with an "R" by their name because they are domestic terrorists.
