Searching for an enemy.

As a super hero needs a super villain, in their "black and white " world, conservatives need something to rally against.
This is a short list of what they have had.
1. Communism
It worked for quite a while until communism imploded.
2. Drugs
Generally seen as "bad", but because cartels don't have nuclear weapons, it really wasn't quite the same.
3. Homosexuality
For awhile it had traction in parts of the US as the "new" enemy , which is remarkable considering the absence of nuclear weapons.
4. Islamic fundamentalism
For an enemy, it was pretty effective. They did bad things, even with out nuclear weapons, but over time it lost the pizazz.
5. Health Care
Seriously, what the hell were they thinking? Who in their right mind thinks Health care is a good villain?
The Republicans deserve to fail for a profound lack of imagination. Zombies seem to be everywhere now, why didn't they go with that? How about pythons in Florida? They could have gone with some many other things, and they picked health care as the enemy.
What the hell were they thinking?

Unfortunately, the pythons seem to be winning, slowly, via attrition. Sigh.
The conservatives? Not so much.
