Unsecured AR-15 stolen from U.S. Rep. Ellmer's home

RALEIGH — U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmer’s husband reported an AR-15 rifle stolen from the family’s home in Dunn last week, according to a police report.

The weapon had been left leaning against a gun locker in an unsecured garage on Kingsway Drive, the report said.

The rifle, a gun case and a GPS, with a cumulative value of $1,100, were stolen, according to Chief J.D. Pope. Police think the theft happened on the night of Oct. 15.

“According to the report, they had been out target shooting and brought the gun back and leaned it against the gun safe,” Pope said. “ … The garage door was left unsecured, according to the report.”

or that it took them at least a week to notice it wasn't there any more.

Dopes like these shouldn't be allowed near firearms.

You may remember her as the NC rep who wouldn't give up her paycheck despite being all-in on the shutdown and married to a wealthy surgeon.

From Wikipedia: Ellmers became involved in politics after the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which she opposed. She became involved in local Republican politics and joined Americans for Prosperity, a free-market political advocacy group.. . . Ellmers received an endorsement from former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin on August 18 (2010) through Facebook . . . Ellmers received national media attention in September when she released a television ad condemning the Park51 community center in Manhattan, and Congressman Etheridge for not voicing an opinion on the subject. The ad was criticized as "the most baldly anti-Muslim ad of the year" by Salon and "bigotry" by a writer for the Washington Post.. . .

Rep. Renee Ellmers: One more Tea Party poster child for all that is wrong in this nation.

people wanted her to forgo her paycheck during the shutdown. Said she couldn't afford it or some such shit, even though her combined income with her husband is in the $400,000+ range.

I've seen her on tv before. She is an A1 asshole.

My goodness, what kind of animal does something like that? Guns should never have to share a space with bicycles, lawn mowers, automobles, and the like. They are to be worshipped in the proper manner.

seems to me that it is also a bad idea to "Lean" a possibly loaded gun against anything. Couldn't it fall over and fire from impact???
