"In the past 40 years, the coldest World Series I could find was back on October 22nd 1997 when the Florida Marlins played Game 4 against the Cleveland Indians weather more conducive to skiing than baseball. At first pitch, the temperature was 38 degrees with a wind chill of 18 degrees. Snow flurries fell throughout the game and there were even patches of ice on the field."

1. I agree with you, but I love the World Series

but you need to remind yourself, it's all about money. BTW I don't think there should be any privately owned sports teams. If the city that you ply your trade in, fronts a billion stadium, then it should be the cities team, no private sports ownership. Let the city make the profit. Most sport team owner are a bunch of conservative Neanderthal assholes to being with. Why let them wedge themselves into municipal dialogue?

2. The 2003 WS was the last series to start before 20 Oct. The 2008 WS started on the 28th

Before that they were starting after 10 October for decades - for example the 1987 WS started 17 Oct.

And no snow. I do not want to listen to my husband whine if his team can't play because of snow.

Some games in April do get snowed out. I don't recall World Series games though.

Playoffs have expanded (although still flawed IMO), and the MLBPA years ago put curbs on how many regular season games the league could schedule in x number of days without a day off..

12. Well us Angels fans had to endure another mind numbing, uneventful season.

Glad it's over and I really hope the owners don't go spending like drunken sailors trying to get Robinson Cano or some other crazy hitter we don't need.

10. There is one special thing about the World Series...

They have not moved it to some special place...you know..like the Super Bowl

The games are in the homes of the winning teams..no matter what the weather is, or where the stadiums are or what the condition of the stadiums are. They have not changed that, and good for them. And. that allows people in the cities that host the games to get tickets. that is a good thing. I wonder what they cost???

God forbid they forego the slightest dollar of TV revenue.
