Speaking of entitlement...

[img][/img]

Republicans are somewhat correct about the necessity of entitlement reform. I think I speak for a lot here when I say that we really, really, need to take a look at reforming congressional entitlements.

Congressional entitlements are just a little too lush. Social Security needs its benefits raised and the age for early retirement lowered.

Most Boomers who are beginning to retire have nothing but Social Security and food stamps to live on. Or should I say exist on, because that's about all most will be able to do.

for at least 5 years after serving. The revolving door is the REAL problem. Lots of times they serve only as a stepping stone to a multi-million $ lobby job. Good pay is needed to live in Washington DC and I know we dont want only the rich to be able to serve office.

There were a few hundred lobbyists in 1980 now there are 13,000 registered lobbyists. And lots of them make a lot more than the president.

that leads directly to increased profits for corporations.

Lower wages equals higher profits.

The poor are blamed and the rich get richer.

Teachers are not allowed to collect SS, even though all diagrams of "Overpaid teacher salaries" imply they will get a huge check out of it.

You become a teacher, already underpaid, and you're expected to sock away enough to live on in retirement or starve?

Admittedly he taught in a wealthy town and retired quite a while ago when teachers were a little more valued.
