We tend to hear complaints more often than when something is working so I would just like to say this.
We have great insurance through an employer, I have no complaints. There were two medications that I and another family member take on a daily basis that were not covered by my insurance before the ACA. Because of the ACA they are now required to be covered saving my family $100 dollars a month. Our physicals are now free which is another $90 in copays. Our premiums went up $50 dollars a month this year. So that is a net win.
As for saving me time, my daughter who is in the military gets to still be on my insurance till she is 26, when she came home for a visit last, she got sick. The nearest VA doctor is an hour away. She was able to go just down the street to our regular doctor and get care. We didn't have to waste precious visit time on travel to the doctor.
That is all.

(1,735 posts)1. ACA is not for those with employer insurance. They write as if ACA has already been in effect.
2. If daughter is in military she doesn't need ACA provisions and would use CHAMP if no military doc is available.
3. This just sounds phony and contrived.

(65,616 posts)You can drop your employer insurance if you find a better plan on the exchange. That is how I am reading the OP.

(26,549 posts)1. The ACA is more than just the exchanges. It also has effects on employer-based insurance, the most visible being the ban on lifetime caps and the "kids can stay on until 26" part.
2. The daughter's the one in the military, so she'd be under TRICARE. I suppose it's possible that no doc in the area would take TRICARE, but that seems unlikely.

(1,914 posts)about my post at all.
You might want to review the law a bit before writing more about it. Don't confuse part (the exchanges and subsidies) with the whole (the exchanges, changes to minimum coverage, lifetime payouts, 26 year rule, pre-existing conditions, etc).
