I'm wondering what's going on in the winger world that's inciting them to fling themselves headlong into a frenzy of self-immolation here on DU.
Some of my own threads have been subjected to this treatment.
Like clockwise circling moths, favoring greatly their right wings, mesmerized by DU's shimmering brightness, they sparkle into tiny balls of flame at the merciless due dilligence of our MIRT Team.
Lately I've seen this ongoing theme in several unmoderated sites where unhinged bands of low-information posters are exhibiting a high degree of anger and paranoia as they fabricate a nefarious plan by the Obama Administration to declare martial law, confiscate firearms and send God-fearing Christian white folk into FEMA concentration camps.
Who comes up with this shit, Alex Jones? Glenn Beck? Drudge? Some psycho that I'm not thinking of?
Of course, none of their paranoid fantasies about Obama have come to fruition, however, that hasn't inhibited them from fabricating a fresh batch of lies to stir up the right wing groundlings that tend to show up around these parts.
In truth, whenever I come across their willingness to accept, without question, the lies and false accusations against the President and anyone else who doesn't accept their unhinged madness, I really question the general sanity of this country.
DU is a safe place for me from all of that crap. I don't need them coming here, in failed attempts to harsh all of our mellows.

(26,877 posts)...that it's a "false-flag" thing done by Obama to distract the public from the shortcomings of the ACA website. As JFK said in November 1963, "We're heading into nut country".

(21,752 posts)We are having the usual ones that return several times a day... The usual super obvious ones... The concern trolls... Actually joining MIRT and seeing just how many trolls come here, has been a wicked eye opener.

(3,539 posts)When you challenge someone's strong beliefs they tend to recede further into them. The more truth you bring to the table the more belligerent they become.
Try explaining to a birther not why but how a *.pdf is layered. It only convinces them further that it was how Obama's birth certificates was falsified.
The more desperate and out right wacky the republican party becomes the more some of it's members begin to see the fallacy.
Their belief structure is threatened so they become more entrenched and begin to strike out.
Its very much like throwing the chess board on the floor when you know your five moves from being in checkmate.

(60,334 posts)DU has been overrun of late with trolling. It has been frustrating because some of these current infiltrations are very well done and they are deceptive enough to keep them from being exposed making it difficult to alert their posts.
As I contemplate renewal of my membership, this is important to me that we are not faced with propaganda.
Glad to see that what I thought I was seeing was in fact that.

(18,998 posts)The trolls are so deceptive that it is hard to alert on them...trained I guess in the Troll School of deception...
What we need is a book of signs to go by so we can ferret them out...you know like dunking them in watter, and if they float they are guilty, and if the sink and drown then they are Innocent.
Troll hunting makes me nervous...

(13,029 posts)those of actual liberals that you can hardly tell the difference, eh? Or convince right-thinking DUers that they should be banned because they aren't conforming perfectly enough to some imagined party line?
That's sure scary, all right.

This crap gets recycled over and over. The first time I heard about FEMA camps they were supposedly done by the Reagan administration early on, before they were backing the contras, in order to round up protesters and eliminate any "Vietnam style protests" over a military intervention in Nicaragua. My source for this (in the late 80s or early 90s) was a fellow who politically identified himself as "libertarian" and had a thing for conspiracy theories. And before FEMA even existed, the story used "gulags" and "concentration camps" for where good-hearted Americans would be put into in the event of an always-around-the-corner commie takeover.

(61,694 posts)she Obama was going to take away her guns, put her in a concentration camp, etc when he already had 3 years to do that. She said he was waiting for his second term. I asked her why he would wait when there was no guarantee of a second term. Stunned silence was the answer.
