for the extra cost of Medicaid. And with all the talk about cutting food stamps, how about we pass a Federal law requiring employers to reimburse the government for food stamps if they aren't paying a living wage?

the larger point is the world's LARGEST economy has sanctioned poverty wages as a-ok.

Not defending McDonalds, just pointing out the REAL CULPRIT--Refucks in Congress (and not a few Dems along with them) who would vote against increasing minimum wage to a reasonable living wage level.

aiding and abetting the plutocrats at every turn. Beside, by sanctioning poverty wages, the population will die off quicker, significantly lowering social security and Medicare outlays, a win-win for big brother and the plutocrats.

by keeping the minimum wage to less than, for example, one-half of that of Australia? After all, the bidness of America is bidness, so the right thing to do, no, the far-far-right thing to do, is subsidize big bidness' low wages so they can forever grow their profits while the bulk of their employee remain mired in deep poverty: this is 'murika in the new right-wing (PNAC) century.

Yes they do however have revenue which is on par with the country of Jordan which is ranked at 90. But revenue does not equal "making". You have to subtract the operating expenses, cost of goods, taxes, etc...

Their profit is more on par with Belize which is ranked at 170 out of 194.

With their employee base they could forfeit all profits and give each of their employees an extra $16 a week, after that they would be operating in the red. Even if they yank all of the compensation of their key executives, that would only add an additional .71 cent to everyone's paycheck.

What they should do is hire fewer people instead pf playing the let's hire hundreds of thousands of part timers for pennies and hire a smaller number of full timers at a higher, liveable wage. It is a miserable, fucked up business model.

I looked it up on MSN Money - NYSE: MCD

From there you can look at their financial statements and executive compensation.

You can also get this from their website, under investors.

"Here" being the UK and we have one of Europe's lowest minimum wages so in most of Europe, they're paying considerably more than that. Oddly enough, their food is still cheap and they still make a respectable profit. They pay poverty wges because they can get away with it, no other reason.
