by Women and FOW's (Friends of Women ) making history!
Usually, women's History Month is almost completely ignored, but this War On Women (they're trying to frame it as the "Left's war on religious freedom"---*gag*, what bullshit) and our refusal to give in IS history being made!! Right here, before our eyes!

(40,416 posts)Because women are always making history.
Some of my favorites which too few people know:
Hypatia The last curator of the Library of Alexandria. A sad end to both, though.
Hildegard of Bingen and Another Hildegard link she's a favorite of mine. Her music is stunning. Especially interesting is the album of her music performed by Swedish rock band Garmana.
George Eliot aka Mary Anne Evans. Read her writing here A writer and a strong advocate for women's rights in Victorian era.
Marie Curie Anybody who wins a Nobel prize in science is notable. Ms. Curie did it twice. (I believe she was the first to do so.)
Henrietta Leavitt made one of the most important astronomical discoveries of all time. No Nobel for her, though.
Rosalind Franklin If it wasn't for her, Crick and Watson might never have discovered the structure of DNA. Sadly she died before the Nobel was awarded (which are never given posthumously).
History is full of women who, dare I say, change the world. It's fun to take these trips into history. I hope you enjoyed this.

Since we don't get any PSA's on media about notable women........
I LOVE Hildegard von Bingen too. Did you know there's a MARVELOUS film about her? Directed by Margaretthe von Trotta. You will love love LOVE it. It's available on Amazon, but I was lucky enough to see it at the Eastman Theatre, an historic cinema in Rochester, NY. I drove an hour and a half from my place to see it---they have one night showings.
anyway......Today is International Women's Day! I doubt media will give it much play though, so let's celebrate here!
Truthfully, I hardly watch TV, even though I rant about it all the time. And what I do watch is on the rerun only channel....no news, just reruns of various series, current and older, (and ads....never saw a PSA of any kind though, not that I recall)
