My open letter to John F Kennedy

Dear Mr. President,
Since this is the 50th anniversary of your assassination my local newspaper had an article about all of the shows about the event that are coming up this month and the writer warned the readers of being "barraged". I promised that this will be my only post on the subject.
What I what to do, Mr. President, is apologize to you. I want to apologize for allowing the conservatives to trivialize your principled and purposeful life. I want to apologized to you for an entire generation embracing Ronald Reagan's mythical Disneyland of a nation, while choosing the "easy" way instead of your call to do the "hard" things. Though your leadership unlocked the better angels of our natures too many threw it away.
I'm sorry.

Sincerely,
Jane

He has been the only great President of my lifetime. Though he didn't live long enough to fulfill his potential greatness, I measure his effectiveness in a different manner than others ..... the Cuban Missile Crisis being the most concrete of issues, but also for his grasp of the Power of Ideas. That's something our nation was robbed of in the decade of the '60s, with the murders of JFK, Malcolm, MLK, RFK, and others.
