(13,390 posts)His usual "I'm an asshole sometimes but you should love me for it." Democrats and republicans like me...
I hope they get a quote from the Boss about how much he sucks.

(14,449 posts)I agree. Disgusting, but he did kick butt. I can't believe how much he won by. What is wrong with New Jersey. He better not be the Republican Candidate in 2016.

(3,709 posts)I think he handled Hurricane Sandy very well... with the President's help but I believe he is turning Sandy into his own personal 9-11.

(30,247 posts)Hopefully, it'll go just as well for Christie as it went for Giuliani in 2008.

(59,587 posts). . . that help them do that.
But Gov. Angry Manatee will never let on that it was ever about anybody but him, him, him. He's like Giuliani, but without the amazing personal charm.

(5,946 posts)The spirit of Sandy is to give contracts to your friends, pay the rich first, then some crumbs for the middle and lower classes - I still have not seen a cent from insurance and you are not helping - there are hundreds of us in the same position - our little plots of lands are being built into condos too expensive for us to own. Build the boardwalk for your photo shoots, but let people gouge the rest of us. Pfft. I guess this means the consumer group is not going to help us fight insurance companies now.

(15,435 posts)of New Jersey!! What a guy! RESPECT?? WOW, that's just too much! A person who does nothing but get attack and get in the face of anyone who DARES to ask valid questions!
What irony and the real problem is that there were probably an overwhelming number of Democrats who voted for him. Obviously they know very little about WHO he really is, and WHAT he really stand for or believes in.
But, time will tell! Just SHUT UP already!!

(15,435 posts)about other races. I turned down the volume, but I did hear him say something about respect and I was blown away! A real peach of a guy, who knows NOTHING about respect!

(3,073 posts)A great diversion- cannot stomach another minute of Christie. He disgusts me and it pisses me off that so many supposed Dems could ever vote for him given his stands on really important issues.

People are 100% ready for someone who just tells it like it is.

(23,973 posts)New Jersey is still in recession, the state economy and employment numbers are dismal, they have a looming state economic crisis that is being ignored in the hope that it will just go away.
Christie as all bluster, he is a king with no clothes on.

(30,247 posts)I'm watching Person of Interest. The minute the cable channels started airing his speech I changed the channel. Bad enough that he's my governor, but I don't have to watch his mug on my TV.

(15,185 posts)and while I wouldn't vote for him, knowing his politics and caring too much about policy, I can understand his appeal. He has that "badass appeal" of not really giving a shit what others think. He comes across sincere and plainspoken. I think his speech was impressive in that it reinforces the key points of his appeal like the off the cuff "You'll get your hug brother" and "tonight's open bar - Welcome to Jersey". Clever. Can you see Mr. 1% automaton Romney pulling that off? Of course not.
The GOP would be incredibly stupid not to give this guy the nomination. He's an effective speaker and is the first republican to have a chance to take states republicans haven't won't since Bush Sr. like PA, MI and well, NJ.
He's a force (a huge force that too!), to be reckoned with... Hell, his weight may actually appeal to a lot of folks. Many people are overweight. His family doesn't look skinny and perfectly fit. His wife didn't look particularly glamorous. He goes on Letterman, who makes fat jokes about him all the time - and what does he do? He eats a donut. Brilliant. It all fits the much "larger than life" persona he's trying to build (along with the media's help).
From what I can tell, he's a very good politician. And Dems better hope that the Paul/Cruz wing have all the good ammo to sink him in the primaries.
