There will be the usual national spectacle of pundits and national polls proclaiming that the time has come for a moderate Republican that will last right up until actual Republican primary voters get involved.
Rick Santorum would demolish Christie head-to-head, unless there is some new Republican primary electorate we haven't seen yet.
Maybe after a decade out of office, and becoming a Mormon Bishop, and running and losing once, then perhaps Christie could pull a Romney reinvention.
But actually being governor of NJ while running? Good luck with that.
