It seems to me that political Parties, especially Republicans, can do anything and never suffer any consequences for it.
It was just a few weeks ago that they shut down our government, costing approximately $24 billion dollars to our economy. Not only that, they threatened to not extend the debt limit and put the entire economy at risk of a severe downturn.
And what price have they paid?
They march to the polls as if nothing ever happened. Everything is the fault of those evil and immoral Democrats, they say.
What would they have to do for the people to punish them politically? Maybe invade a country in the Middle East on a bunch of lies and bomb and torture their people?
Never mind...

Grayson said it, all that remains of (R)s are criminals and dupes. If you ask me, that's all that ever existed.

(4,246 posts)There is no reason for politicians to be given passes for criminal actions.... 24B should be grand larceny.
I know they passed legislation making themselves above the law long ago.... I know it's about separation of powers... But that doesn't make it right. It should be easier to recall them strip them of their office and bring charges somehow. This system is no better than monarchies with some being above the law.
I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to analysis of history or civics but I know right from wrong. I'll google "Why can't we sue our government" but doubt that any rationale can seriously explain away this travesty.

I guess their Party affiliation is stronger than anything else in their lives?
