Also, in 2002, there were three repugs who won in "traditional" Dem states, media went apes*it ...
In 2006 ... same three were turned over to Dems ... very little news coverage, despite the "liberal bias" ...

We are stomping around here parsing numbers and complaining it's not enough.
There is more to be done...but we had a great night.
And we should have no problem saying so.

(163 posts)It's hard to build a mandate argument on a 48% vote when your opponents (both ideologically opposed to you) get 52%.
Remember, Sarvis and the Libertarians didn't join in with Cuccinelli because they felt he wasn't conservative *enough,* which speaks volumes about where they were on the political spectrum. Any way you cut it, the right wing side of the political spectrum in Virginia got 52% of the vote.
