Why would Rand Paul plagiarise? Because

Last edited Thu Nov 7, 2013, 04:17 PM - Edit history (1)

as a libertarian he's got nothing to sell to folk. He's about taking away power and wealth from folk by destroying the things government does best for them. It would be an economy devoid of any hope for most people. It is not a vision of a better world. All he wants is to take. His only creative arguments are about the government being a dystopia. Which is projection on his part. The world he would usher in would be terrible to live in. He never thinks of building. He is not a creator. He is a diminisher. So he is devoid of ideas. So he plagiarises the work of human beings. To pretend he is one and shares their emotions and their dreams.

If it weren't for Rachel Maddow (and anti-dueling laws) he would have been top of the world, Ma! But now, Forget it, Jake; it's Chinatown.

Read all about it in his new book, Paradise Lost.

Randians succeed by exploiting the work of others, whom they hold in low regard. I wonder how he treats the people who work for him...

Making sure people don't just copy and past for him is just to much work. Better that he goes back to being a doctor. Because that doesn't take any work at all.

Poor spoiled little rich boy.

What is that Bible quote the (R)s in the house like to spew? "Those who refuse to work shall not eat"?

"...But I would sometimes spread misinformation. This is a great tactic. Misinformation can be very important."

He went on to describe studying for a pathology test with friends in the library. "We spread the rumor that we knew what was on the test and it was definitely going to be all about the liver," he said. "We tried to trick all of our competing students into over-studying for the liver" and not studying much else.

"So, that's my advice," he concluded. "Misinformation works."

We know that many politicians use speech writers, we know republicans pay membership dues to think-tanks to get boilerplate (A.L.E.C., Heritage), and gladly accept white papers from industry lobbyists etc to be used to cut and paste together talking points and especially the details of legislation.

Using the words of someone else as their own is ordinary conduct for many politicians. They don't think it's wrong because the staff/ ghost writers get paid to do that work.

With that awareness I find it difficult to assume Paul did not use staff or a ghost writer to put together a book.

From that point of view it's possible to see how Rand Paul doesn't see a problem. He may have purchased the words and the right to use them.

Including famously prolific academics like Stephen Ambrose.

After a while it all gets blurry, you pay them, you trust them, you own the copyright... I suspect that it's catching up with Rand.

How else do you explain why Progressives sometimes are caught plagiarizing, too? I think the root cause is that an individual is far too full of themselves to realize what they are doing.

It's narcissism and a too-full schedule of that.

catch and expose them they should. I bet every single word of President Obamas books were checked to see if his written words are original. Not many real brilliant persons in politics like our Pres. O. We need more people like him, people who really were college professors for years.

that goes all the way back to college.

By getting away with it over and over, he probably thought he would never get caught.

And now, people will be scrutinizing everything he's ever written.
