The Crown Colony remained under British rule until 1962. From 1962 to 1964, Kenya morphed into a Commonwealth Realm (kinda like Canada and Australia) then into a completely independent republic.

In 1961, Kenya was the Crown Colony of Kenya. Mombasa was in a section along the coast known as the Protectorate of Kenya.

And for all the public to view in the newspapers and online and TV. Canada is a sensible country and gives one when a formal request is made. One is not made to feel like a criminal. Many Canadians were born in the USA like Cruz and they have a terrible, expensive process to renounce US citizenship.

For those who think it is try and locate a 1950s Encyclopedia somewhere and look at an African map. You will see it says "Colony of Kenya". It was known as Kenya from 1895 on although it was part of the East Africa Protectorate. It became the Colony of Kenya in 1920 and Kenya in 1963.

Why anybody cares about the birther crap at this stage of the game I don't know.

I don't care in the sense that 1) there is convincing proof Obama was born in Hawaii and 2) it matters not where he was born. Obama could have been born on Mars and it would not matter because it is beyond dispute he was born to a U.S.citizen. The law is if you are born to a U.S. citizen you are a natural born U.S. citizen with all the privileges and headaches that may bring.

Kenya had just recently been in the throes of a revolution. Unthinkable that a young American woman no older than Obama's mother was would have gone to Kenya to have a baby there. No way. If one had, people who knew her would have remembered it. Indonesia a few years later was a possibility. But Kenya, no. Not until a few years later.
