Obamacare: 106,000 signed up for health coverage so far, officials say

Just 106,000 Americans successfully signed up in October for health coverage through President Obama’s healthcare law, the administration announced Wednesday in a report that underscored damage from the botched rollout of the law.

The tally falls well short of administration hopes that as many as 500,000 people would select a health plan in the first month of enrollment.

Enrollment has been particularly weak in the 36 states whose new insurance marketplaces are being run by the federal government.

Fewer than 27,000 consumers signed up for coverage on a federally run marketplace. These federal marketplaces rely on the malfunctioning healthcare.gov website, which Obama administration officials are scrambling to repair.

I have no idea what these numbers refer to: people signing through healthcare.gov and by phone, people signing on the exchanges throughout the country, including Medicaid or not?

This is the perfect example of an article that is useless for actual information.

I've made it crystal clear that I support the ACA in both ops and comments

I really, really wish I could say what you are. Not what I think you are, but the type of person you've demonstrated yourself to be- repeatedly.

11. Her OP didn't say anything negative about the ACA

She said the website was botched. Everybody knows that. There's been a House hearing on CSpan all day trying to find out who's at fault. And she said Obama was scrambling to get it fixed.

The only thing I might add is that friends in high places who recommended the website architects may not be Obama's true friends...and can't help having thoughts on who might want to see Obama resign over this...besides the Republicans...

Many creepy people in politics..maybe that's why Obama uses the phrase, "has my back," so often when speaking of Biden...I don't think he's paranoid.

2/3 of the population is in states without exchanges, but the 1/3 that do have state-run exchanges produced over 70% of the people who signed up.

Hmmm, didn't you just accuse somebody of being negative.

Nobody is supposed to mention that Romney care did almost as bad in its first month or what? What's the satisfying part? Please elucidate.

Have to put down my mouse and do some primal screams. Close your ears ..............
