You know how I think the GOP uses Sarah Palin? They use

her as the dumb wacko bird that makes what the GOP are up to as more benign. She makes them seem less of a threat. All the while ALEC is out messing up states who then gerrymander and mess up congress.

Agreed. She is a diversion - a plant - who makes the rest of the GOP pols look and sound "reasonable". She provides "cover" for them.

It's pretty damned clever move actually. Slight of hand, illusion, misdirection.
