You can't arrest someone based on what they say they did. There has to be evidence. The police have no evidence.

People make false confessions every day. There needs to be collaborating evidence. The video is not evidence because it is not known if in fact what was on the video was illegal. Without lab testing it is unknown if the substances Ford thought were crack were indeed crack.

A hair sample may be good enough to get you fired from somewhere but it can't be used in court without the drugs.

I was so disgusted by what he said today.
I personally think he said it to be so shocking that people wouldn't pay attention to the story as much as his comments - IOW I think the allegation that he was seeing prostitutes is true. He has the same method of deflecting that my ex had. Same way of covering up lies - attack and blame everyone else or do and say something outrageous to distract. I don't think he's actually crazy so much as defiant and narcissistic. How DARE anyone challenge HIM?? Is what he likely is thinking.

I don't think this is going to end well...as someone on the news said yesterday - Rob Ford was groomed by his dad to be mayor. He knows nothing else, he doesn't know how to be anything else, and he's not going to give it up easily because he has nothing else in his life planned. This was it. Another person on TV (a Toronto Councillor I think) said he's pretty convinced the only way Rob Ford will leave the Mayor's office is in hand cuffs or on a stretcher. I think we will see that yet. There is basically no way to remove him from office, from what I understand, unless the province steps in - which likely won't happen with a Liberal in power.

What a cluster fuck.

ETA: BTW, I'm not in Toronto, but I'm in Canada and it's on my news 24/7.

serves time. The Premier of the province is offering to pass legislation if Toronto Council asks for her help. As to how to get rid of him, Fox News North (Sun TV) has just given Rob Ford and his brother a show at 8PM. So it looks like he'll parlay his crimes into a cult of personality. And make Sun tv, which was not doing very well, more popular. All really bad outcomes for liberals in Canada. I hope he gets help and loses his job. And that he gets the justice he deserves. To keep other kooks from following him. But it is beginning to look like he as gone super nova and is going to ride the storm rather than have it crush him.
