Would a televised debate on the issue of healthcare be something that could help the healthcare law

Remember when they were trying to pass NAFTA and in order to save it, Al Gore decided to debate Ross Perot on the issue?

This ended up saving NAFTA. Would a similar event be helpful for Obamacare. Perhaps President Obama can debate Ted Cruz on this issue. This might make things better for the healthcare law and stop making the Democrats in Congress so scared and willing to give up.

But joking aside, it might work, but it would have to be set up very carefully. Because Republicans are just going to lie and use scare tactics, and if they aren't called on them, than Obama might well be at a disadvantage.

In particular if they are going to use examples of "real" Americans hurt by Obamacare or "real" companies shutting down because of Obamacare, than they need to provide those in fact so they can be fact checked.

of their convictions and did debate it for the American People to see.

I have major problems with the ACA primarily being the institutionalization of the carcinogenic for profit "health" insurance corporations, they were the scorpions in regards to health care and have no redeeming value.

Having said that. I believe such a debate may help the ACA or at least clear the air in regards to public confusion.

Thanks for the thread, Tony_FLADEM.

Not a debate, but an informative discussion of the various points and details of the program would be helpful.

This week, I have watched numerous shows dedicated to JFK, his life, his death, his legacy. Now these are interesting, and I've learned some things about the details of the assassination that I really hadn't heard. Most of these were on PBS.

HOWEVER, how much more useful it would be, for PBS, or MSNBC, or some other channel to have a few panel discussion shows on the actual facts of the new ACA, which is going to be so impactful for so many millions of people. This week I heard at a meeting a talk by an AARP representative explaining some of the impacts on Medicare (there are a few). The people at the meeting had a lot of questions, not all answered. I think various groups are holding similar talks by those having knowledge of the program. I think the word is beginning to get around, but much more needs to be made public for the average hard working American.
