Ken Starr's plea for a child molester.

What’s Ken Starr up to these days? According to Virginia court documents, the famously pious former Clinton prosecutor recently pleaded with a Fairfax County judge to let a confessed child molester go free. Because he’s a family friend. Here’s the letter.

Charlie Gibson, Ken Starr Wrote Letters in Support of a Child Molester

Tucked away in a Washington Post story about a Potomac high school teacher accused of molesting female students over a thirty-year period is the fact … Read…

It was just one of dozens of letters sent by as many Washington, D.C., and New York City power players—including former ABC News anchor Charlie Gibson, a former aide to Laura Bush, a former GOP congressman, and a powerful partner at the insider law firm Akin Gump—who wrote in praise of Christopher Kloman, a 74-year-old retired Potomac School teacher who has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting several female students under the age of 14. Kloman received a 43-year prison sentence in October.

According to the Washington Post, Kloman “estimated that he molested girls ‘less than 10 times’” from 1966 to 1985, sometimes by luring them to a isolated location under the guise of helping them with homework. One victim, the paper reported in October,

said Kloman invited her and a friend over to swim at his house after a seventh-grade field trip. [...] But once in the pool, Kloman pulled her onto his lap, pinned her arms behind her back and thrust against her, she testified. Sullivan said Kloman held her so tightly his arms were like “lobster claws.”

This guy confessed.

This makes me ill.

My opinion is only the victims wishes should be taken into consideration after a conviction, confession... in these types of cases.

WTF was Charlie Gibson thinking? Always thought I liked him. Well, fuck him.

I can tell you from my involvement in many such cases that this is sort of a standard practice--get prominent people in the community to write letters about what a wonderful person you are to resent to the judge before sentencing.

And, since child molesters often have long histories of involvement and high standing in the community (bankers, lawyers, ministers, etc.), they often come to court with lots of these letters. I think most judges are aware of this, and know perfectly well that the prosocial presentation of such perpetrators has no bearing on their criminality or the risk they present to re-offend.

And of course we note that the supporters here are Republicans like Starr, who no doubt have a strong sense that nobody in their class could do any wrong. They just know that people like THEM have nothing in common with those dirty pedophiles* you hear about.

I mean, who would want to associate themselves with this.

Some background:

October 13. 2013
Christopher Kloman, Ex-Teacher, Sentenced To 43 Years In Prison For Sexual Abuse Of Students

His victims waited decades for justice, but they finally got it.

Christopher Kloman, a former teacher at an elite Virginia prep school, was sentenced to 43 years in prison for sexually molesting five female students in the 1960s. The girls, adults now, were between 12 and 14 years old at the time.

Kloman, now 74, taught at the Potomac School in McLean, Va., from 1965 to 1994. According to WUSA, victims came forward after one of them, Ann Sullivan, ran into her former teacher while he was substitute teaching at her son's school two years ago.

“As a mature woman, a lawyer and a mother, I was fed up,” Sullivan testified at a hearing Friday, according to the Washington Post. “I was more than fed up. One girl is too much. One generation is too much. . . . The girls at my son’s school were the exact same age I was when he assaulted me.”

Sullivan's chance encounter with her attacker in 2011 sparked a criminal investigation that culminated in Kloman being charged with four counts of indecent liberties and one count of abduction with intent to defile. He pleaded guilty those charges.

“It wasn’t my intention to be hurtful. I violated their trust," Kloman said Friday, according to WJLA. I am embarrassed, horrified, and ashamed of my actions. None of you deserved what I did. I hope and pray you can find peace."

WUSA reports that Kloman invited his victims to pool parties and baseball games, and "made them feel special."

Famed attorney Gloria Allred, who represented the victims, called Kloman “an unmitigated predator.” According to WJLA, the victims had another name for him: "The wolf."

Starr has been nothing but a hypocrite his entire professional life. And the lasciviousness with which he undertook the Clinton-Lewinsky investigation frankly would not leave me surprised if something were to be revealed with respect to Starr's own behavior.

Uggh.

...that child molestation and exploitation is a staple activity among the elites and the powerful in this nation.

Our system is so corrupt and rampant with psychopaths who start illegal wars and kill people without a second thought. They are destroying our planet, destroying our democracy and illegally spying on Americans.

Why in the world would be believe that they wouldn't engage in child molestation?

In fact, these types typically fit the profile of a predator. They don't care about anyone, but themselves--and people are objects to them. They lack feeling and empathy. Exactly what a child molester is.

Look at the Penn State situation. Anyone really believe that stupid Jerry Sandusky was the only person exploiting those kids in Sandusky's charity--which was a home for vulnerable kids? Come on. I bet many rich and powerful participated in those crimes.

The only person who would stand up for a molester--is a molester. PERIOD.

And this perp is a full-on predator who harmed many girls. Furthermore, he abused the power he had over these girls, as a teacher. He's a monster. Anyone who advocates for this sick bastard to gain his freedom---must identify and sympathize with his crimes. SICK!

These cheerleaders do not know what this man has done. He may have left a long wake of
victims, including his own children.

What in the world are these assholes doing?

This man is supposedly a nice guy? A great community member? Most child molesters are "normal" people. They look normal anyway. They attend church, volunteer in the community and many are successful professionals. This does not negate that they are child predators.

WTF are these idiots thinking?

They are advocating that he do community service and serve NO TIME in prison--even though he admitted that he molested several 12 and 14 year old girls!

Obviously, the police found enough strong evidence to put this to trial and a jury convicted him. These sickos who are advocating no punishment--as well as his freedom to molest again!--are just as sick as this predator.

This really is revolting!

SURVIVORS of child sexual assault that perps are deserving of appropriate consequences for their depraved, narcissistic acts, if we don't follow through with sentencing and incarcerating these criminals?

Perpetrators of child sexual assault sentence their victims to a lifetime of stigmatization and -- in too few instances -- recovery. When my ex-BIL was outed for perping on me (and my two little sisters), friends and family began crafting a defense of him and his behavior -- labeling me a seductress, and excusing his pedophilia. TO THIS DAY, he denies responsibility for perping on three little girls, and all three of us bear the wounds of his making.

Ten years ago, I exposed my father for the perp that he was. I told my mother and my siblings. They all cut me off, suggesting that I was lying. Lying? Why in the hell would anyone lie about something like that? I spent ten years in therapy, attempting to unravel from the damage.

Never mind that my father was in love with a teenage girl (one of his employees) when he was 35. My mom knew about it and my parents even consulted the advice of their priest, because my mother was so traumatized by it.

My parents now deny that my father was in love with her. I called this former employee and she confirmed that it was true--and she also confirmed that my parents saw a priest about it.

Predators are very cunning and sick. They don't just victimize their targets. They damage everyone around them and they create a sick system, ensuring that their secrets remain hidden. I bet the people in your family who deny your pain--have serious problems of their own. I look around at my siblings who are in denial--and we've got eating disorders, alcoholism, suicide attempts, abusive spouses, etc. They pay a heavy price for that denial.

Abusers systematically traumatize everyone around them. It's ensures that those around them are silent. So, the perp and those around him are all part of a very sick system. You are free. You know the truth and you came forward. To you, and anyone who has done against the grain of these powerful predators and their sick systems, I applaud you.

You did not deserve what happened. The perp and his cohorts are all very sick. You and the two other victims are brave, honest and you broke free.
