Nancy Pelosi Guts David Gregory’s Republican Talking Points and ACA Lies

The point of the whole interview for Gregory wasn’t to be objective. His introduction to show said that the White House was shaken, there was a crisis of confidence in the president, and Democrats were abandoning him. Gregory had his narrative, and he wasn’t interested in the facts about what is really going on.

Gregory tried to get Pelosi on the Democrats defecting from Obama, but the Democratic leader used facts to shoot that down. He tried gotcha journalism with a video clip, but Pelosi explained why what she said was true. David Gregory even got part of the healthcare law wrong when he claimed that the law mandated that junk policies had to be canceled, and he was corrected by Rep. Pelosi.

The problem for the media is that this story is quickly running out of life. The media is going along with Republicans in pushing the belief that the website will never be fixed. They are assuming that the website will remain broken, because their story is pointless if they have to admit that this is a short term problem that is improving by the day. Obama’s presidency can’t be in crisis is the website is being fixed, so they have to pretend like it isn’t.

Nancy Pelosi didn’t play games with David Gregory. She shot down his BS, and gutted his attempt push a false story about a crisis that exists only in the minds of the mainstream media. The truth is that the news is slow, so the media decided to blow the website issues up into a presidency destroying moment.

Democrats know that once people sign up for the ACA, they will like it. They also know that if Republicans want to run in November 2014 on a website that has been fixed for ten months, they are more than happy to let them.

Nancy Pelosi gave Democrats a road map for handling media over the next couple of weeks. No retreat, no surrender, and no apologies for making the healthcare system better for hundreds of millions of people.

forgotten it was patterned after Romney Care. They don't have an alternate plan, are now complaining they was not able to participate in drawing up the plan, guess the GOP Congressional members was not in Congress at the time the ACA was drawn up, it is a lot of complaining and nothing intelligent from the GOP. I wonder if ACA has a treatment for a GOP Congressional No Bunch, it is a terrible illness.

She answered as if they were relevant, ignoring WHY ACA was important to people.

This is what I hate with pols who have never lived outside of the political world. They cannot understand what people care about. Whether Dems are deserting the President will not give them insurance. Talking about HOW to subscribe to the healthcare law, why it is important and what it brings to people is what we must talk about.

She accepted Gregory's frame, looking totally out of touch with average people's reality and making Kelly Ayotte look as if she cared. Sorry, we can continue to think we look good when we attack, but attacking without caring, like if it was a football game and not people's life hurt us.

I have a tv-vcr combination, but with cable, you have to be there to record at the time the program starts to get the channel. It'll end anytime I want.

Trouble is I have a huge stack of taped treasures I never have the time to watch. I bumped into an OJ trial one a couple of weeks ago.

I don't make a point to watch the republicans on there, but when I catch he seems to be pretty rough with them, too. It's his job to go after whoever is sitting in the chair. I know it's popular to demonize press, but Wolf Blitzer was the one who exposed the "let them die policy," and Candy Crowler was gave us "please proceed."

I know there are moments where they deserve criticism, but their job is to grill politicians. All of them.

Letter From Governor Patrick to the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation on the Affordable Care Act

"However, any delay in requiring plans to meet the basic standards of the ACA must only be temporary. Leaving non-compliant plans to remain permanently in place means we revert to the status quo: a broken health care system where many people carry policies that don’t cover them when they get seriously ill, and where those with comprehensive coverage pay for those uninsured or underinsured in higher premiums and taxes. Permitting plans to be permanently non-compliant means the pool of individuals who do purchase plans through the marketplaces will likely be sicker on average, and their options will be more expensive and constrained. And it will disrupt the market-based model on which premiums and policy options hinge."

pelosi - "The rollout of the website, that's terrible. But the fact is that will be fixed. And that is the instrument of enrollment, as you know. What the Republicans did on Friday is not a fix. And if I just may, the law does not demand that all of these cancellations go out. The law says if you had your plan of the law, you can keep it, and that's what the president said. So there's a distinction between those who had it before, and what this law does is say other people can be enrolled in these bad initiatives, which the rules--"

What needs to be said:

1) we will not eviscerate the ACA by allowing substandard plans that cost a lot but cover nothing.

2) the problems we are facing are because we need a public option or Medicare for All.

Period. Full stop.

The current trajectory will leave us with being mandated to buy crapsurance that covers nothing, which, I have been stating for years, may have been the plan all along.......

Oh man. I hope that wasn't a clarification!

This is a ridiculous argument anyway. Obama said if we like our plans we can keep them and for many that is not true. Not all plans being cancelled were "substandard." Just weren't. Said the average family would save $2500 a year. Prices are going up for many. It is having a negative impact on some people. Right-leaning friends tell me it will be much worse when the employer mandate goes into effect. Don't know but the argument makes some sense. Also makes sense that it would be pushed back until after 14 elections for that reason. Don't know that that is the case. We'll see soon enough.

Mon Nov 18, 2013, 10:08 AM
Nov 2013

As is the intent of all the mainstream media. It was to push a certain narrative ie: "crisis of confidence", etc.

Gregory tells Pelosi: "I won't want to get too far into the weeds". This means: "I'm not interested in the facts, I have to push my narrative."

The mainstream media's objective is to keep the meme perpetuated that the website/ACA is "broken" and "doesn't work" so GOP can run on this in Nov. 2014 -- even if the website and JUNK policy issue is long fixed by then.

They HAVE TO KEEP THIS MEME ALIVE and they will for the next 12+ months. It's their job. Remember they're corporate owned. And insurance companies are corporations. And Republicans represent who? Corporations and v.wealthy people ONLY.

So they're all on the same team together.

As for Dems and the rest of us - we're all on the same team together too - but our problem is that WE don't have any mainstream media pushing OUR narrative (ie: the truth as opposed to TeaBag / Republican sensationalism and hypocrisy).

Everyone knows that David Gregory was a stooge for the Bush white house and even got an "atta-boy" for his coverage from Media Research Center, a conservative propaganda machine. By extension, we should consider all content from NBC or any of the main stream media as severely suspect. It doesn't take a genius to see the insipid creep of big money into skewed journalism.
