There isn't even a question of should he have apologized in the real world, and if rush were to say the same thing about Hillary this board would light up with outrage.
This is a sad thread for DU, just like the other similar one you have going.
We toss our civility, our humanity, out of the window when it suits us.
Our side says someone should shit in a woman's mouth.
It's disgusting and perverse.

(8,021 posts)it's disturbing to see. It's okay because she's from another political spectrum? No, it's not; it never will be. The cavalier acceptance of such "commentary", even by a few, reflects negatively on all of us.

(16,844 posts)He gave a graphic illustration of why it's sickening for people to compare any old thing to slavery, which Palin and her ilk do on a regular basis. It trivializes one of the worst episodes in our history. Not to mention the brutality and evil of enslaving an entire race of people, the institution of slavery has cast a shadow on American society that has never gone away, and countless people have died, been maimed, imprisoned, and otherwise denied justice as a result of it.
It is nearly impossible to stress too much how people such as Palin should disgust all of us when they make comparisons between slavery and the national debt, or pretty much anything else. If she and her followers are so upset about Bashir's comments, why aren't they concerned when all of the metaphorical shit comes dribbling out of her mouth every time she utters a word?

No apology needed.
