FUCK RONALD REAGAN

just listened to a report from Rachel Maddow that said the De. State Senator Deeds' son was held for an emergency mental evaluation but couldn't be placed because of a bed shortage. Wasn't Reagan the fucker who cut the federal funding for mental health by 70% during his term. And todays repigs aren't going to do anything to fund it. we are going to have more and more of these tragic events that could be prevented if we had ou budget priorities correct.

You had to be there at the time. Reagan played the part of president quite well. There were flags and saluting and the economy had turned around because of all of the deficit defense spending.

Sure, if I had the opportunity to go back and do it again knowing what I know now - I wouldn't do it again. Mondale just wasn't inspiring enough, and it's hard to beat an incumbent.

Of course the real tragedy was in '80 when Carter lost, but the deck was stacked against Carter. There wasn't an Internet to balance the MSM at the time, and the press was very friendly toward the war-mongering president. Interest rates were as high as 18% we'd been fighting inflation for a decade or more and Paul Volkers solution was to jack up the interest rates until there was a much smaller supply of money. Since this policy from the Fed put a halt to inflation - Reagan took the credit for it, and blamed the stagnant economy that caused so many farmers and other small business to go under.

So we had flags and the song 'God Bless the USA' and we were talking tough to the USSR (the godless Russians).

Like I say: you had to be there.

Though I did all right in the 80's career-wise.

He was a bad actor playing a role. Much like Schwarzenegger, who I voted against in that Republican coup for the California governorship.

The last Repub I voted for was Nixon, and I was very young at the time and bit disconnected. Probably drunk, too.

It's one of the reasons why I strongly believe that it's more important for the democrats to control congress than the White House.

The president just signs things into law. If the legislature is merely voting to repeal a law all the time they aren't moving us forward.

Part if the reason Reagan did so much damage was because the republicans started controlling congress off and on after that period of time.

In the period between the Great Depression and the beginning of the Reagan administration - congress had been controlled almost exclusively by democrats. Something like 46 years out of 50 years.

Perhaps this was the road map the right still follow. The NRA points to mental health to stop the rampant killings. The records of mental health are not open to public. Also, Jack the Ripper with knife wouldn't be hospitalized as docs are paid by number hospitalized the less the higher their pay.

Reagan had a strong mandate to do the things he did. And when the great blessing of term limits finally ended Reagan's reign, America elected Reagan lite, HW Bush!

Please. Do. Not. Get. Me. Started. On. Ronald. Reagan.

I could go on and on, but dumping the mentally ill in the street and spitting on Rasalynn Carter's excellent work as First Lady has to be toward the top of the list.

Yip, he's the one that really started "austerity" in this country, with all of his "downsizing." It's been axe and smash ever since. And now, we realize that they have "redistributed" all the wealth upward, all the while accusing the 99% of "class warfare." That act (accusing another for what one is in fact doing) is a classic textbook description of a psychopath. Bad news is, there is very little they can do for a psychopath/sociopath.

And now they are running the effing world.
