On October 22, I went to the coveredca.com site to sign up for health care. I knew I wanted to sign up for Kaiser, I'm eligible for subsidies, I had already chosen the plan (Silver 87 -- the only one that makes sense, if you are eligible for subsidies). It all seemed to go OK, and at the end the website told me that I would get a bill, via email, directly from Kaiser by November 15.
November 15 came and no bill in sight. Nothing in my email from the California exchange or from Kaiser. Not a single email regarding the health care sign up came to my box in the weeks since Oct 22.
So, I went back to the coveredca website to see what I could find, if they had any trace of my presence from my October 22 signup. Once I logged in, at the top of the screen it indicated I had one message waiting for me.
I looked at the message, and it is a letter from CoveredCA asking for more documentation of my income, dated November 13. I am now working on their documentation request, and hope that I can meet it and successfully get signed up.
So..... just a helpful hint to my fellow Californians. Don't expect to hear from CoveredCA in your email box. They don't seem to communicate that way, even though the website says it will contact you by email.
If you've not heard from them and you've not gotten the bill you expect, log back in to their website. There may be communication waiting for you.

(32,342 posts)I got my first request for payment in the snail mail yesterday from Kaiser. (I chose a silver plan too!)
I forgot to check back into my internet account, so don't know if they tried to reach me that way. Good tip. I was sort of keeping an eye out for email notification.

(2,161 posts)I may yet get a bill from Kaiser via snail mail in the next few days. Hope so!
This is one bill I'm eager to receive and pay, so I will be officially signed up for Obamacare. Fingers are crossed.

(535 posts)Early in the application process I was asked for a primary contact means, I chose my email. That option was also presented on the Summary page before submitting it.
A policy to begin January 1, 2014 required enrollment by December 15. Done.
After the final electronic signature page it indicates that the insurer will contact me to confirm acceptance and arrange for payment.
Documentation of income is required by February 15.

(9,696 posts)The letter stated that I could mail, fax or upload the needed documents. I still haven't found out where you upload documents from on the site.
But other than that, everything has been glitch free. They must be really busy now, there has been a 30 minute wait on the phone to speak to reps for the past two days. PReviously someone would answer within a minute or two.
