3. Here in Texas, I was called to jury service recently.

I made it to voir dire.

The case was a possession with intent less than 400 grams.

First offense. Defendant claimed it wasn't his.

Defendant faces 15 to Life

A good many of us were kicked off for raising our hands no when asked "do you think you could impose a sentence within this range?"

Another positive? Fully 95 percent of those of us seated there (about 50 people) felt that some forms of drugs should be legalized. Let's just say the DA was probably not super-thrilled with us.

I just hope that kid gets a fair trial.

7. When I had jury duty in DC, the 42-person sting operation netted 2 people for selling crack.

The 2 people got 3 years in prison for a first offense.

I'm still amazed that it took 42 people to accomplish that operation.

Truly heavy sigh.

13. I wouldn't really call 3.5 grams a small amount,

it's not huge but that is more than one person would use in several sittings. Least it was back in the 80's when i was around that stuff.
