Group raises concern with tar sands oil shipments on the Great Lakes

An environmental group warned about potential problems from increased shipments of crude oil over the Great Lakes, including plans that could ship oil from a Superior refinery.

The Alliance for the Great Lakes said in a report released on Wednesday that ports on the lakes and the Great Lakes shipping fleet aren't designed to ship tar sands crude oil. | Updated: 8:55 p.m.

The Great Lakes are the largest surface freshwater system on the Earth. Only the polar ice caps contain more fresh water.

84% of North America's surface fresh water
about 21% of the world's supply of surface fresh water

Not a bit and the "I told you so" will seem a little weak.

Also, it begins to feel like a concerted effort to destroy the water supply because of the broad disregard at all times for it.
