Republicans say that the Filibuster is GOOD FOR AMERICA and HOW THINGS ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK, right?
So why are they on TV promising to run majoritarian riot the moment they ever take over the Senate, never letting Democrats block anything?
Think about this, because in our hyper-partisan dystopia it is no longer an obvious point...
Their first act upon retaking the Senate should be to Reinstate the Old Rule. (Which is good and virtuous and part of how the founders envisioned America, and what doesn't make the baby Jesus cry, etc..)
What they are saying today is equivalent to if Obama had run on opposing torture, and rather than promising to abolish torture promised to fix the situation by continuing to have the CIA torture the same number of people, but to torture his enemies instead of Cheney's enemies.
If the Filibuster is actually a GOOD thing (as claimed) then how the fuck can you PROMISE to abuse its absence, rather than to to restore it???
