1921 Canada BC`s Maternity Protection Act is passed under pressure from unions. It provides for maternity leave job protection.

as well as receive Maternity Benefits - "stay at home dads" can receive gov't income while they care for their newborns.

this is especially important to those families where both parents work.

They get to CHOOSE which parent stays home - wife might have the major income;

or they both agree Dad should enjoy his child's infancy as well.

5. I don't like to flag wave because

it's usually only luck who you were born to or where.

But this maternity leave thing is The Awesome. ESPECIALLY when it includes Dads.
I am proud and damned lucky to be born here.

I just cannot believe the richest nation on earth is so slow on the uptake about taking care of its citizens. Thankfully Obama is headed in the right direction, and hopefully the next Pres will carry things even further into civilisation.
